In this week's faculty meeting at Princeton Day School, Head of School Paul Stellato announced that Upper School Science Teaching Fellow Thomas Pettengill recently had a research paper published by Springer-Verlag titled "A Natural History Model of New England Salt Marsh Die-Off." The paper was published by the academic journal Oecologia, a journal focused on ecological sciences, and on PubMed, a leading website for published research.
Mr. Stellato also announced that Lower School Librarian Jenny Mischner recently presented at three conferences about her work with students in creating green-screen book talks: The Future of Education Technology Conference (FETC), the American Association of School Librarians Conference (AASL), and Stuart Country Day School's "Lead Like a Girl" Conference. Mrs. Mischner noted how much she enjoyed the "Lead Like a Girl" Conference, as she worked with a group of 4th grade girls who not only presented the information themselves but also taught other students how to create these book talks. As she said, "These book talks are a great way to combine reading and technology." Here is an example of a green screen book talk.
