Princeton Day School Chess Team Wins First Place in Championship

On Sunday, February 25, the Princeton Day School Chess Team competed in the New Jersey Primary and Elementary Championship for five rounds of intense competition. Eric Wu '24 in Elementary and Lila Field '27 in Primary each played for first place, board one, in the last round. The Elementary Team led by Eric Wu, who won second place was helped by Aadi Shankar '24, who signed up at the last minute to contribute 3.5.

Chess teacher Bonnie Waitzkin reported, "Our students were very disciplined during the long five-round tournament, going over their recorded games with coaches Tatiana Brea and Jairo Moreira between rounds; no video games, healthy snacks, and a dark room rest time before the important last round."

Congratulations to our team! In the attached photo: Rowan Field (15th place with 3.5) Eric Wu, (2nd place with 4.5) Adrien Cristian (14th place with 4 wins) and Shaan Srinivas holding the team trophy.
