Princeton Day School played host to a packed house of fans yesterday at Lisa McGraw '44 Skating Rink to watch Varsity Boys Ice Hockey face off against Lawrenceville. Fans included a large student contingency from both schools, faculty, parents, alumni, grandparents, and friends. It was a fast and aggressive game, where one team or the other was almost always a man up. PDS scored first with a goal from Coby Auslander '19. Former Panther Matt Manahan answered for Lawrenceville. Senior Russell Friedman's goal made it 2-1 and an empty net goal from Union commit Nic Petruolo '18 sealed it for the Panthers, 3-1.
Head Coach Scott Bertoli commented, "Every winter, our players circle the 'date' and get excited about competing against Lawrenceville to showcase their talents in front of our students, faculty, parents, alumni and local hockey enthusiasts. For our coaching staff, it was so rewarding to see our team perform at the highest level in this important MAHL contest; they thrived on the energy of the crowd, executed our game plan, competed tirelessly and channeled their emotions. I could not be happier or more proud of the way they played and conducted themselves on the ice last night, I'm thrilled that our players got to fully enjoy this experience with the rest of the highly supportive PDS community."
