Get your tickets online now for Princeton Day School's deviously delicious Upper School production of Little Shop of Horrors, which will be performed in the School's McAneny Theater four times from February 21-23!
A Broadway and Hollywood sci-fi smash musical, Little Shop Of Horrors has devoured the hearts of theater goers for more than 30 years. Author and lyricist Howard Ashman and composer Alan Menken (who wrote the music for Disney's The Little Mermaid, Beauty And The Beast, and Aladdin) are the creative geniuses behind what has become one of the most popular shows in the world.
The story begins when Seymour Krelborn, a meek floral assistant, stumbles across a new breed of plant he names "Audrey II" after his co-worker crush. This loud-mouthed, R&B-singing carnivore promises unending fame and fortune to Krelborn . . . as long as he keeps feeding it. The plot thickens when Seymour soon discovers Audrey II's out-of-this world origins and intent towards global domination!
Princeton Day School is particularly proud to feature the sensational puppets used in the Broadway revival and subsequent national tour of Little Shop of Horrors, thanks to a partnership with Monkey Boys Productions, the professional puppet-making team based in Wyncote, PA.
The Upper School cast and crew promise to deliver another unforgettable theater experience under the direction of acclaimed PDS Theater Director Stan Cahill, who has continued to raise the already strong reputation of the PDS theater program. During Cahill's tenure, the School's production quality and the diversity of its repertoire have been exceptional, resulting in regular invitations for the PDS theater program to attend the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, the world's largest arts festival. Fringe, which brings thousands of professional theater participants together with the best amateur and student groups as well, is an invaluable theater experience and growth opportunity for high school participants.
One of the longest running off-Broadway shows, Little Shop of Horrors is a charmingly tongue-in-cheek comedy that will delight audiences. The show will be performed at 7:30pm on Thursday, February 21 and Friday, February 22, as well as at 2:00pm and 7:30pm on Saturday, February 23. (Appropriate for children 8 and older.)
