NJ Chess Championship: PDS Places 2nd at Elementary and Primary Level

In February, the PDS chess team participated in the New Jersey Elementary, Primary and Junior High Championship held in Lincroft, NJ. PDS finished second in both the Elementary and Primary divisions, and Leon Zheng was crowned the tournament’s 6th Grade Champion. Other individual results included: Chloe Wang, fourth place, 2nd grade; Yiden Chen: second place, 1st grade; Jamie Wu, second place, 2nd grade; Akshay Pillai, 13th place, overall; Andrew Dai, seventh place, overall; Rohan Madhok, third place, 5th grade; Eric Wu: fifth place, overall.

Team participants were Chloe Wang, Yiden Chen, Hrshveer Sandhu , Jamie Wu, Samil Mittal, Sarthak Sawant, Aditya Pillai, Akshay Pillai and Teddy Aitken-Davies in K-3; Harkiran Sandhu, Andrew Dai, Leon Zheng and Rohan Madhok in K-6; and Eric Wu representing the K-9 division. Coaches were: International Master Farai Mandizha, National Master Ben Johnson and coach Lucille Fresco-Cohen.
