Fall Coach Fridays: Kelly Clark

The 2022-2023 athletics season started off with great energy and excitement. Throughout the fall, stay tuned every Friday to learn more about our coaches who motivate, push and support our student athletes in every area of their development. First up, meet Kelly Clark — PDS' very own Upper School assistant cross country coach.

Tell us a little about yourself.
I am from Long Island, N.Y., where I ran high school cross country and winter and spring track. I also ran for Bucknell University's winter and spring cross country teams. My event specialty was the 3000m steeplechase which involves four dry barriers (like hurdles but larger) and one barrier that consists of a water pit.

Do you have a catch phrase?
Running is 90% mental, and the rest is physical.

What do you love about your team? What are you most proud of?
There is great camaraderie between the boys’ and girls’ teams which helps them function as one unified team. There is also that same culture within our captains and upperclassmen to our new members and underclassmen.

Best advice given to you as an athlete?
The importance of sleep and how essential it is towards your recovery process.

Tell us a fun fact about yourself!
In the spring of 2019, I ran the Boston Marathon, got engaged and accepted the job at PDS all within less than a month.

What food item can you not live without?
In general, sugar. Whether in complex carbohydrate form or simple sugars, it would be very difficult for me to give up!
