Welcome back to campus! Although the arrival was a rainy one, students and faculty greeted each other enthusiastically as everyone gathered on campus for the first time since March 2020. As students shared stories from their summer vacations, checked out their new lockers and met their new teachers, the excitement in the hallways and classrooms was palpable. One thing is for sure: everyone is elated to be together again.

Students of all ages were part of discussions and gatherings with School leadership today, including welcoming messages from Head of School Paul Stellato, who spoke about the importance of creating community together. Renée Price, Assistant Head of School for Academic Life and Head of Middle School, also shared some inspiring words for the first day of school about PDS’ theme for the ’21-’22 school year, “The theme of the school year is “belonging.” A sense of belonging is essential not only to our overall well being, it is essential to our very survival as humans. Just as you provide that sense of belonging at home, students need to know that they have protectors surrounding them all day at school, and that they do not have to face stressful situations all alone.”
