The extent of Panther Pride and gratitude in the Princeton Day School community could not have been more evident than last Friday, May 7, the 5th annual PDS Day of Giving.
Held in conjunction with Blue & White Day in early May, the Day of Giving at PDS is a 24-hour period of energy, excitement, friendly competition and most of all, community commitment, with all proceeds generated supporting the PDS Annual Fund. The focus is on participation, showing our strength as a community, with a gift of any amount welcomed. This year, the results were extraordinary. In true Panther fashion, the School community exceeded expectations as PDS received gifts totaling $434,080 from 764 donors—a record-breaking one-day total!
"We are overwhelmed by the outpouring of support for the 2021 Day of Giving. There is so much to be proud of at PDS, especially this year. The incredible response from our community on Friday reflects both the collective pride we feel for our School and the gratitude we have for people in this community," Director of Advancement Communications Amy Gallo '03 noted.
In the spirit of friendly competition, groups within the community competed to achieve the highest participation within their group. The parents of the Classes of 2024 & 2022, and the Class of 1971, topped the parent and alumni leaderboards, respectively. In addition, in the first ever Faculty and Staff Participation Race, the Middle School faculty tied the School staff with 92% participation, with all Divisions turning in participation rates of 85% or more.
"Thank you to every 2021 PDS Day of Giving donor and an extra special thank you to the volunteers who contributed to the overwhelming success of this year's event," Ms. Gallo stated.
