Transportation

Princeton Day School does not provide busing for students. Some local school districts provide transportation, while some may provide reimbursement in lieu of transportation. To apply for busing, or transportation reimbursement please submit a Transportation Application Form. The deadline on the form applies to our current families. Once new families are officially enrolled, forms should be submitted as soon as possible. Please note that you must fill out every field on the form. The form will not be accepted by a school district if any field is left blank.

The following students are not eligible for New Jersey Transportation services:
  • Students younger than five years old
  • K–12 students more than 20 miles from school
  • 9–12 students within 2.3 miles of school
  • PreK–8 students within 2 miles of school
  • Students who do not live in New Jersey

Please apply as soon as possible, as transportation or aid in lieu of transportation is granted at the discretion of your local school district, not PDS. With limited district funding, late applications may not be accepted.

Please note: If you reside in East Brunswick, East Windsor, Ewing, Hamilton, Hillsborough or South Brunswick, a computer signature will not be accepted. A copy will be sent to you; please sign and return it directly to your district's transportation office. If you reside in Trenton, proof of residence is required by the Trenton Board of Education.

Dismissal times vary, but all buses depart PDS at approximately 3:25 p.m. daily. In case of a delayed opening or cancellation of school due to weather conditions, parents should contact their local school district to see if/when buses are available. Buses will follow the announcements and decisions for each individual school district, not Princeton Day School.

Upon submitting the Transportation Application Form, print a copy for your own records. Parents or guardians requesting transportation must submit one application per student and must indicate their local Board of Education at the top of the form. Contact your local public school if you are unsure about the name of your Board of Education. If your address changes during the school year, please contact transportation@pds.org so the information is current and arrangements can be made to transfer your student(s) to a new bus system.

Families seeking bus transportation must submit the Transportation Application Form. New families  must submit the form as soon as possible upon enrollment. Princeton Day School will keep families informed about transportation issues via the website and email.
