Rome Spring Break Trip
PDS Latin teachers Nicole Mangino and Amanda Gregory are planning a trip to Rome for the March spring break, departing on March 11, 2024, and returning on March 20. These dates were chosen to save on travel expenses and to avoid the summer heat and crowds.
The trip primarily revolves around Rome, with all 8 nights spent at the Hotel Trastevere. Students will get to explore key classical sites like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and Roman Forum, as well as dive into the wonders of Renaissance Rome, Baroque Rome, and 18th century Rome. Weather permitting, we'll venture into the Roman countryside on a day trip to Ostia. Our daily tours in Rome are thoughtfully aligned with our Latin curriculum, and the opportunity to join is initially extended to juniors and seniors in our most advanced levels (Post AP, Latin 5/AP, and Latin 4). If the number of interested students exceeds fourteen, we will employ a lottery system to make the final selection.
As we look forward to sunny days and picnics in Italian fields, it's important to note that getting or renewing passports can take up to twelve weeks. If your child needs a passport, please apply for one now and consider expediting the process. The estimated total cost for the trip, covering flights, accommodations, breakfasts, dinners, museum admission, day trips, transportation, and tour fees, is currently $3,300. Lunch costs are not included; we'll buy our lunches from local markets each day, where we can practice our Italian.
