Dear Middle School Families,

And just like that, we are back into action, Middle School style!

With new faces, new spaces, and new things to learn, were the past four days overwhelming for your Middle School student? Do not be alarmed if your student is both exhausted and exhilarated by stimuli this week. Things will settle into place. 

In those first days of school, our students’ energy was high as they adjusted to new routines and expectations. Our work now is to help them settle into a calmer rhythm so that meaningful learning can take root alongside their supportive teachers. As new challenges arise, they will be equipped with the tools and emotional steadiness needed to approach those experiences with confidence.

Help!
Do you need assistance with anything as we begin this academic year? Do not hesitate to reach out, Ms. Sarah Flaim is our Assistant to the Middle School and she can be reached at (609) 924-6700, extension 1600. 

Attendance 
Attendance is very important for everyone’s success and the fulfillment of the PDS mission. In order for students to be set up for a successful first period class, we need them to be present for Advisory at 8am. We use the Veracross family portal for attendance. Using the Report Student Attendance button shown in the image, please input your child’s attendance if they will be late, leave early, or miss school.

Multi Day Absences 
Absences of 3 days or more require MS Head approval, and details need to be submitted via the Multi Day Absence Form. When you click on the Report Student Attendance button shown below, you will see an option that says “Multi Day Absence.” Chronic tardiness and absences are challenging, and we ask that students please be at school on time and in attendance regularly. 

Upcoming MS Tech Coffee: Schoology
Please join Tara Quigley, MS and US Technology Coordinator, on Tuesday, September 9, in the Linville Lobby of the Athletic Center at 8:15am to learn the ins and outs of Schoology. You will learn how to use your Schoology parent account to best support your student’s academic success. Additionally, you’ll understand the difference between the student view and the parent view so that you can navigate this platform together with your student.
