Message from the Head of Lower School

Dear Families,

The energy in the Lower School has been incredible all week! Students have done a great job of learning new routines, getting to know their new homeroom communities, and diving into new learning expectations for the year ahead. Using the Responsive Classroom approach, the first days and weeks of school are spent setting the groundwork for a positive and engaging learning environment. Included in this approach are discussions about how to engage in civil discourse, what our school values look, sound, and feel like, and what we need in order to be the best community members and scholars we can be.

A big thank you to all of you for your support in making this first week a smooth and successful one. We appreciate your trust in us, and we're excited about all that we'll accomplish together this year.

I look forward to seeing you all next Thursday evening for the Lower School Back-to-School Night! The schedule is below:

5:45 p.m. - Opportunity to mingle with LS Special Subjects Teachers and other LS Families, Help Desks from Flik, AfterSchool, and The Health Office (Campus Center)

6:30 p.m. - Brief Program with Dr. Nicholson-Flynn, Dr. Wang, and LS Academic Leaders (McAneny Theater)

6:50 p.m. - Transition to LS Building

7-7:45 p.m. - Classroom presentations (Homerooms)

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact your student's teacher. Aysiah Kruis and I are also always here to help.

We look forward to a terrific year of learning and growth!

All the best,

Sandy
