Come out and support the boys’ varsity ice hockey team on Wednesday, January 21, at 6 p.m. as they take on the Big Red at Lawrenceville!

Join us on Monday, February 2, 2026, from 5:15 - 6:30 p.m. for our community-wide Black History Month Celebration. Doors will open at 5 p.m., and the program will begin at 5:15 p.m. This year's program will include the rich cuisine of the Black Diaspora, as well as student performances and presentations from all three divisions. If you are interested in providing nourishment for our community celebration, please sign up here.

We invite your PreK-4th Grade student to perform in the Lower School Player’s Circle. Students taking private lessons on any instrument are welcome to perform a piece of music (3 minutes max) or two different instruments (5 minutes combined max)—sign up here by Wednesday, January 28. Pick up your student at the LS Amphitheater, then walk together to the LS Music Room; contact Julia Beckmann (jbeckmann@pds.org) or Lulin Zhong (lulinzhong001@gmail.com) with questions.

Since heading indoors in late November, we’ve been busy keeping the momentum going! While staying active is always a goal, we are now taking a deeper dive into how we fuel our bodies for success. Check out how our students are staying fit and eating well this winter season!

We hope that all 5th-8th graders will lace up their skates and come join the fun for this full middle school event on Friday, January 23rd from 7-9 pm! The cost is $5 at the door, and limited skate rentals are available for $3. Skating Parties are about promoting face-to-face connections, therefore phones will not be allowed on the ice. Phones are safer kept at home. Chaperones will have phones if needed.

On January 28th, we will be hosting the digital version of the AMC 8, a 25-question, 40-minute competition designed to promote developing and enhancing problem-solving skills. Participating students will complete the competition during Resource. 

All grade 8 students and accelerated grade 7 students will participate. Any students in grades 6-8 may optionally participate.

MathCounts Club was a huge success with more than 45 participants! Please cheer on our 14 competitors who will participate in the chapter competition on February 7. 

Starting on February 23, we will shift from MathCounts to Math Club. In this club, we will play math games that promote curiosity and critical thinking, engage in non-traditional explorations, and practice topic-focused problem sets. More details here:

On Thursday, January 29, the PA is excited to host our annual Faculty & Staff Appreciation Luncheon to celebrate our amazing teachers, administrators, and staff! We’d love your help in making this event extra special with food donations and/or volunteer time. All cuisines, homemade or catered are welcome.

The PDS Parents Association is looking for individuals who are interested in being considered for the 2026-2027 Governing Board, Committee and Division-specific positions. Please complete the PDS 2026-27 PA Nominations Form by 2/9/26 if you would like to self-nominate or nominate another parent for a position. No prior experience is necessary, and all parents are welcome to apply and encouraged to be involved!
