The PDS Chess Program brought home numerous individual and team honors at this year's NJ K-12 Chess Championship. They also hosted the Greater Princeton Championship, the first event of its kind in NJ. The day included thrilling competitions between and against four Chess Masters as well as a K-12 tournament, from which PDS collected multiple awards.

Play with the best scholastic players in New Jersey!
Princeton Day School hosts monthly scholastic chess tournaments, designed to welcome the most novice of tournament players and to inspire the most accomplished. Chess players from more than 30 elementary and middle schools from New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Delaware compete as individuals and as school teams, with a typical attendance of over 130 students.

Eleven PDS players attended the 2019 National Elementary Championship in Nashville Tennessee, May 11 - 13. The K5 team placed 3rd out of 34 teams, while the K3 team placed 7th out of 56 teams!
For the first time in Princeton Day School history, a combined PDS team of Upper, Middle and Lower School chess players earned second place in the K-9 championship section of the 2019 National Junior High Championship. The tournament was held in Grapevine, TX during the weekend of April 26-28.
