The Middle School grade fees are intended to cover the cost of most supplies and field trip expenses, including the Mini-Course Week in February. In the Upper School, expenses can vary widely from student to student, depending on course selections. These charges range from $500 to $900 per student. The Parents Association fee covers expenses incurred by the PA during the course of the year, including events, meetings, programs, and initiatives in support of the school.

We believe that the most qualified students should be able to attend Princeton Day School regardless of their family’s financial circumstances.

Financial Aid Process

Princeton Day School partners with Clarity, to process our financial aid applications. Clarity is easy to use and affordable (the $60 fee is waived for qualifying applicants), and they offer customer service in both English and Spanish (support@claritytuition.com). Based on the financial information you provide in your financial aid application, Clarity will use a standard calculation to determine an estimated amount that your family can contribute toward educational expenses. Princeton Day School’s financial aid committee uses this estimate as a starting point from which to determine a financial aid award.

Financial Aid Checklist

Indicate on the Standard Application Online (SAO), the application for admission, that you will be applying for financial aid. If you have already submitted the SAO and did not indicate that you would be applying for financial aid, please email financialaid@pds.org
Submit completed Clarity Application
Please provide all supporting tax documentation as requested by the Clarity Application
If self-employed, please submit corresponding K-1s, form 1065 or 1120s along with your Schedule E
Parents living in separate households are each required to submit an application to Clarity

For New Families

For New Students Applying for Financial Aid

Be sure to indicate on your Admission application (SAO) that you will be applying for financial aid.

Complete a Clarity Application by January 15
As part of the Clarity Application, you will be given instructions about submitting required documents. These documents must be provided directly to Clarity. Do not email or send tax documents to Princeton Day School.
Please be aware that Clarity or the PDS office of financial aid may request additional documents once you have completed the application. Your application is not complete without the required documents.

If you have special circumstances that you would like us to consider, please include all details in the notes section of the Clarity Application

For divorced or separated parents or parents that have never been married, each parent must complete a Clarity application regardless of custodial arrangements.

For Current Families

For PDS Students Currently Receiving Financial Aid

In order to be eligible for financial aid, you must submit a financial aid application each year. The Clarity application, along with requested supporting tax documentation, is due by December 1.

As part of the Clarity Application, you will be given instructions about submitting required documents. These documents must be provided directly to Clarity. Do not email or send tax documents to Princeton Day School. Your application is not complete until all required documents have been received.

For Returning Students Requesting Aid for the First Time

For PDS Students Who Have Not Previously Received Aid

In order to be considered, documentation must be provided to explain a change in circumstances (i.e. change of employment, extreme health concerns, etc.). For returning students who are requesting aid for the first time:

Please send an email to the office of financial aid financialaid@pds.org describing the change of circumstances that precipitates the need for financial assistance. Include in this letter any special circumstances that you would like us to consider. You may also call Julie Cucchi, Director of Admission and Financial Aid, to discuss the reason for your first time application.
By December 1, complete a Clarity Application.
On the Clarity application, select the status: Returning First Time Applicant
After submitting your Clarity Application, you will be able to submit additional documents by uploading them directly to Clarity. Your application is not complete until all documents have been received.
