Music

In our Middle School, all 5th and 6th grade students are enrolled in either Choir, Band, or Orchestra. Please consider your choices of Choir, Band, or Orchestra, and make your selection. Ensemble directors will place students in the ensemble level that matches their experience and ability.

  • Concert Choir provides fifth and sixth grade students a chance to sing in a choral ensemble. The repertoire is selected from a variety of styles (classical, gospel, contemporary, etc.), languages (Hebrew, Swahili, French, Italian, English, etc.), and voicings. This choir meets three times weekly and performs throughout the school year.
  • Discovery Band is the perfect ensemble for students with no previous study on a woodwind, brass or percussion instrument. Instruments offered are Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone, Baritone, Tuba and Percussion. The class meets three times each week with sectionals scheduled by the director. Students present at least two concerts during the year.
  • Expedition Band is geared for the intermediate to advanced students with at least one year or more experience on a woodwind, brass or percussion instrument. The class meets three times each week with sectionals scheduled by the director. Students perform in at least two evening concerts and participate in school assemblies throughout the school year.
  • Allegro Strings is a small group of dedicated students who wish to begin learning the Violin, Viola, Cello or Bass. The class meets three times each week with sectionals scheduled by the director. Students participate in at least two concerts during the school year.
  • Sinfonia is an ensemble made up of students with prior experience on the Violin, Viola, Cello or Bass who want to perform in a large ensemble and continue to develop their playing technique.
