This fall, the entire Upper School community gathered for a new kind of assembly: the Upper School Gathering. Head of Upper School Jason Robinson and Dean of Students Elizabeth Monroe spoke about the process of revitalizing the weekly announcements assembly of years past and rolled out the new format, highlighting the intentional and thoughtful programming and the opportunity to hear from both faculty and students in each assembly. Then, Science Department Chair Jason Park spoke to the community about his personal experiences, explaining that the story is the shortest distance between two people, and about why he values Princeton Day School's opportunities of a lifetime every day. (To read Jason Park's remarks, visit this page). It was a touching, funny, and inspiring presentation. Next Christopher Kiel '18 introduced our athletics co-chairs Elon Tuckman '18 and Madison Mundenar '18 who spoke about the Panthers Are event earlier this year, and screened a short, engaging film created by Linnea Eberle '18 about the event.
As Mr. Robinson noted, "Today's successful gathering was the outcome of months of planning and discussion, all coordinated by Elizabeth Monroe and a team of faculty colleagues, and inspired by a new vision for what an Upper School Community Gathering can be." He added, "I left our US Gathering morning filled with the pride we should always feel when a community as fine as ours comes together in such a splendid fashion."
