The 2016 Issue of Cymbals Wins Top Prizes

Faculty advisor and US English teacher Jamie McCulloch announced that the 2016 issue of Cymbals, Princeton Day School's literary and visual arts magazine won the American Scholastic Press Association's top honor, First Place with Special Merit. Mr. McCulloch noted, "This is an award we have been chasing for four years. We've won second, first (the past two years in a row), and now First Place with Special Merit." According to the ASPA materials, this top honor "was given to a publication that scored over 950 points and in the opinion of the reviewer was an outstanding overall example of a scholastic publications in format, content, and presentation." In addition, the issue also won Outstanding Continuity of Theme for the unique "Waltz" theme. It is worth noting that PDS's publication was in competition with not only other top independent schools including Sidwell Friends School and Horace Mann School but also with colleges and universities. Congratulations to the Cymbals team for another amazing issue!
