Princeton Day School Welcomes Upper School STEAM Coordinator, Jonathan Tatkon-Coker

Princeton Day School is pleased to welcome Jonathan Tatkon-Coker as its first Upper School STEAM Coordinator for the 2017-2018 academic year. After earning his B.A. in German and Art History, and his B.F.A. in Painting and Photography at Rutgers University, Mr. Tatkon-Coker earned his M.I.D. in Industrial Design at the Pratt Institute. He has worked on multi-disciplinary teams at Cornell University, Nike, Beats by Dre, and Apple, where he developed expertise in industrial design, product development, and mechanical engineering. Most recently, he was a consultant at the Gruss Innovation Center at the Lawrenceville School, where he worked on developing project-based environments across disciplines and defining educational workflow.

In this new role as Upper School STEAM Coordinator, Mr. Tatkon-Coker will coordinate the efforts of key faculty in the science, math, and arts departments; oversee the Upper School STEAM curriculum; and manage the new Upper School STEAM Center. Jason Robinson, Head of Upper School and Assistant Head of School for Academic Life said when announcing the news, "We are thrilled to have Jonathan join our ambitious new STEAM Initiative as Upper School STEAM Coordinator. He is fully conversant with STEAM disciplines and will be able to support their full integration at PDS, and I believe he will be adept at guiding faculty and students as they explore the transformative potential embodied by the new STEAM Center."
