PDS Students Sanjana Dugar '18, Arya Jha '18, and Shana Levine '17 Receive Accolades

Congratulations to three Upper School students who have received honors for their work in writing, music, and photography. Sanjana Dugar '18 received the 2017 National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) Achievement Award in Writing. English Department Chair Dr. Karen Latham announced the news, adding "She is one of only seven students from New Jersey to be recognized nationwide." Sanjana worked closely with English teacher Barbara Walker on her submission of several pieces of fiction, a personal narrative, and an essay.

Music teacher Marc Beja recently announced that Arya Jha '18 was offered a position in the All State Mixed Chorus, the New Jersey Music Educators Association's top choral ensemble. As part of this ensemble, she will perform in Atlantic City and at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in the fall.

Shana Levine '17 has just earned a Scholastic Art Awards National Silver Medal in Photography. Photography teacher Eileen Hohmuth-Lemonick announced the news, adding that the silver medal placed Shana in the top 1% of the 330,000 submissions for this award.
