More Theater Award Nominations from the Paper Mill Playhouse

The Princeton Day School Upper School production of the spring musical "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee" has garnered a number of Paper Mill Playhouse Rising Star nominations. Nate Jones '18 was nominated for Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role, and Hope Ammidon '18 received a nomination for Student Achievement Award for Assistant Direction. Honorable mentions went to: Claire Szuter '18 for Outstanding Performance by a Featured Ensemble Member; Riley Gudgel '18 and Nishita Naga '17 for Outstanding Hair and Makeup Achievement; PDS Music teacher Marc Beja for Outstanding Music Direction; and freelance designer Steve Howe for Outstanding Lighting Design.

The awards will be announced in a special Tony Awards-like ceremony on June 6. The Paper Mill Playhouse Rising Star Awards were created in 1996 to encourage and reward exceptional accomplishments in the production of high school musical theatre. The Rising Star Awards is a statewide competition of New Jersey high school musicals modeled after Broadway's Tony Awards.
