Head of School Paul Stellato announced this morning that Jason Robinson, Head of the Upper School and Assistant Head of School for Academic Life, has been appointed Headmaster of St. Alban's School in Washington, DC. Mr. Robinson's appointment is effective July 1, 2018.
During his four years at Princeton Day School, Mr. Robinson has led a series of ambitious school-wide efforts, including a new academic schedule, to be introduced this fall, as well as an integrated core curriculum program for all ninth graders. In addition, he served this past year as a member of the highly successful STEAM task force, and has advanced curriculum work across departments and divisions.
Mr. Stellato noted, "A favorite of Upper School students, parents, faculty, and his leadership team colleagues, Jason has proved a resource for all, listening carefully, guiding skillfully, and leading confidently. Princeton Day School will miss him a great deal."
Mr. Robinson began his teaching career at a boys' school – Landon School – and once again turns his focus to the education of boys. Serving 575 students in grades 4-12, St. Alban's School enjoys an outstanding reputation among Washington-area schools and within the independent school world. Mr. Stellato added, "I should note that Jason will not be the only Washington-area head of school with impeccable Princeton Day School credentials: his counterpart and colleague at National Cathedral School, Kathy Jamieson P '96, '99, '04, served as Admissions Director at our school."
Mr. Stellato also announced plans to begin a nation-wide search for the next Head of the Upper School. Associate Head of School Lisa Surace will lead this effort, and details about the search process will be shared in the coming weeks.
