Chess Accolades for Princeton Day School Students

Congratulations to Vinay Rao '21, a star Princeton Day School chess player who was just ranked #3 nationally in the U.S. Chess Junior Grand Prix final standings. The standings were published in the April issue of Chess Life Magazine, where it was noted that Vinay scored 9737 points. In announcing the news, Head of Middle School Renee Price said, "Congratulations to Vinay for identifying a passion, cultivating it with hard work and coaching, and achieving such admirable results!" In other chess news, Chess teacher Bonnie Waitzkin reported that sisters Rowan '23 and Lila '27 Field competed in the All Girls National Championship in Chicago with 423 girls in attendance. Ms. Waitzkin noted that Lila played well, and was 12th in the Under 8 section; her rating is now 966. The Nationals are taking place in May, and Princeton Day School will be representing with 8 players attending.
