Application for Financial Aid

Princeton Day School seeks to uphold our tradition of enrolling students who are committed to academic, athletic, and artistic excellence. In pursuing this objective, Princeton Day School believes that all academically qualified students, regardless of their family's financial situation, should be able to attend our school. By upholding our high admission standards without taking into consideration financial need, we are able to establish a student body that reflects society's socioeconomic diversity. We believe that a diversified student body is essential if our students are to develop the understanding for others that is so vital for citizens in a democratic community.

In order to implement these goals, Princeton Day School maintains a generous financial aid program for all grade levels. Ideally, the ability to pay full tuition should not be the deciding factor in determining whether or not a promising young student may attend our school. No worthy student should be deterred by financial reasons from applying to Princeton Day School. Our admission decisions are made without consideration of finances.

Nonetheless, applicants accepted for admission and qualifying on the basis of proven financial need often outnumber those whom we can afford to support. At such times a waiting list for financial aid is established. Although need is the first and absolute requirement for financial assistance, in selecting new recipients of aid from the financial aid waiting list we base our evaluation on the student's overall academic and personal strengths.

This site serves as an introductory guide to the financial aid process at Princeton Day School. We trust that we have anticipated questions that you might have about the program. While we have provided answers to a variety of inquiries, each family's financial situation is unique. We thus hope that you will not hesitate to call us at (609) 279-2720 to discuss your specific circumstances.

The school arranges tuition payment plans with Tuition Management Systems for ten-month plans beginning in July for our scholarship students. More information may be obtained by calling the business office at 609-924-6700 ext. 1305 or TMS at 800-722-4867. Additional funding for unexpected expenses that arise during the school year can be provided. If a family experiences an unplanned expense (associated, for example, with a class trip or a required class purchase), it may ask for assistance through a teacher, advisor, dean, division head, business manager or director of financial aid.
