Scott Bertoli is a Princeton University graduate, past captain of the Trenton Titans and an ECHL All-Star. He grew up in Milton, Ontario, played hockey for Princeton University and was the top scorer for the Tigers, leading them to a 1997-1998 ECAC Championship and a 20-win season in 1998-1999. Coach Bertoli ranks as the Tigers’ sixth leading scorer of all time. He played as a forward for the Trenton Titans since the team’s inaugural season (1999-2000) and is the team’s all-time leading scorer. Paul Epply-Schmidt is a graduate of Princeton University, where he was the captain of the Men's Fencing Team, a two-time All-American, a U.S. Nationals finalist, and a nationally ranked fencer throughout the 1980's. Coach Epply-Schmidt's achievements at PDS are many. In his tenure as varsity head coach, the Panthers have accrued numerous titles and awards. Among these are several individual Prep State Champions and girls’ team state Championships in 1995 and 1996. Charles Fetter

Charles Fetter is a former competitive figure skater who has held the titles of US Champion and World Team Member. Coach Fetter worked with numerous private schools in New York City and Philadelphia for over 15 years before coming to PDS. How fortunate for PDS that he joined our coaching staff in 2000. Coach Fetter highlights his time at PDS as “among the most enjoyable coaching experiences as a skating coach.” His enthusiasm has paid off. Princeton Day School has won the New England Figure Skating Championships three times and consistently ranks among the top skating programs in New Jersey. Paris McLean (PDS Alum - Class of '00) is currently head coach of the Boys Varsity Basketball squad. Prior to his appointment, Coach McLean was the head coach of our JV team and as a student, was a star player on PDS's 1999 Prep A Championship team. Coach McLean teaches second grade in our Lower School. Highlighting his college career was being selected to the 2003 Div.1AA American Football Coaches Association Good Works Team, which honors 11 players for their athletic success and commitment to community service. Malcolm Murphy came to PDS in 2001 as the head boys varsity soccer coach. He brings with him a wealth of experience, most recently as the co-director of player and coaching development of Match Fit Academy. Coach Murphy has been involved in youth soccer since 1980 and his team achievements include 3 national SYL championships, 9 state cup championships, and 5 Potomac Cup championships. He brings a great deal of passion and commitment to the PDS program and he enjoys his role of challenging his players to achieve the highest level of success academically and athletically.

Ray O’Brien was named head varsity coach for the spring season of 2009. Ray brings a great deal of experience to our program and is highly respected for his knowledge of the game. He has coached various levels of baseball for the past 15 years and managed the successful Central Jersey Express Baseball Club for 6 years that captured regional and national tournament championships.  He also coached the Princeton Post 218 team in the Mercer County American Legion League.  Above all, Coach O'Brien expects his players to develop a passion, a sincere commitment and a deep respect for the game of baseball.  You can reach Coach O'Brien at robrien@coasteramer.com  

Mika Ryan

Mika Ryan comes to PDS with impressive experience and a stellar reputation in the basketball community. In her tenure as a basketball coach, Mika has served as the assistant at both the University of Virginia and Rider University. She was later appointed Head Coach at The College of New Jersey and led the program for 10 years, recording 147 wins. Most recently Mika has been the Director of Travel Basketball for Hopewell YMCA and President of the Mercer County Sports and Entertainment Commission that was responsible for bringing the 2006 and 2009 NCAA Women's Div.1 post-season tournaments to the local area. Mika is also the TV Color Analyst for select Metro Conference women basketball games featured on ESPN, MSG and Fox. Mika can be reached at mryan@pds.org

Joe Schweitzer comes to PDS with a great deal of experience as a volleyball coach at the club and AAU level. Since 2004 Joe has been the head coach for the West Windsor Club boys 16, girls 16 and girls 18 teams. Joe has a love and passion for the game and has played for a number of local club teams and in various leagues. Jill Thomas has been coaching at PDS since 1988 with the philosophy "it's all about the journey and the friends you make along the way." Coach Thomas has coached field hockey, girls basketball, and girls lacrosse through the years and has led her teams to numerous championships. These championships include State championships in field hockey and basketball, Patriot Conference championships in field hockey and lacrosse, and a Mercer County championship in field hockey. Coach Thomas has been coaching for more than 30 years including for the Princeton Lacrosse Club and Intercollegiate Field Hockey and many of her PDS athletes have gone on to successful collegiate careers in their respective sport. During his initial season, 2007, Pat was recognized as Coach of the Year by the Princeton Packet. During his second year, he led the team to win the State Prep B Championship. As a result of his team’s success, he received Coach of the Year recognition by both the Trenton Times and Town Topics. For the past decade or so, Coach Trombetta has coached extensively in the West Windsor-Plainsboro area. He presently coaches the U-18 WW-P Titans boys' premier team, the U-16 Jersey Girls, and the U-11 Terminators boys' premier team. Coach Trombetta also serves as an officer on the Board of Directors of the WW-P Soccer Association and enjoys strong ties with the WW-P soccer community. He holds both USSF coaching and referee licenses. His coaching philosophy stresses the importance of conditioning and team play. Coach Trombetta received his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Seton Hall University and is a partner and executive committee member of a public accounting firm. Ed Tseng enters his first year as varsity girls tennis coach at Princeton Day School.  Ed is an internationally-known tennis teaching pro and was named Pro of the Year by the USTA in 2005.  He is also a leading authority on peak performance and author of “Game. Set. Life.” which was featured at the US Open Tennis Championships.

Rob Tuckman

Rob Tuckman joined PDS in 2003 as the school counselor. In the Spring of 2007 he was named the head coach for the boys varsity lacrosse team. Prior to the Spring of 2007 Coach Tuckman had been the assistant varsity coach for three years. His other coaching experience at PDS has included junior soccer and girls varsity basketball, where he is presently the assistant varsity coach. Coach Tuckman comes to us with a vast degree of coaching experience ranging from youth to high school to college. As head coach at Cincinnati Country Day School from 1998 to 2003, Coach Tuckman started the program and within four years brought the school to their first State Championship. Dede Webster

Dede Webster has a coaching career that spans over two decades.  The former president of the Central New Jersey Squash League brings experience from her time coaching at Princeton University and Stuart .  Coach Webster is also co-founder of Princeton Junior Squash and says she feels "so lucky to be able to give back to the sports" that mean so much to her.
