Upper School (grades 9-12) candidates for admission to Princeton Day School should complete the following steps. Please note that Princeton Day School uses the Standard Application On-line (SAO) for applicants to grades 6-12. This is the only PDS application for these grades.
Step 1: File the Student Information Form of the Standard Application On-line This is the first page of the General Application On-line (SAO). This opens your admission file with PDS. Please follow all directions for completing the General Information Form with the $55 application fee. See below for instructions on how to access the Standard Application On-line (SAO)http://www.ssat.org/membersearch/info/member/5902.
Step 2: Student Interview Upon receipt of the Student Information Form from SSAT, the Admission Office will contact you to schedule an interview. Students will meet with an admission officer and be asked to complete a writing sample during the visit. Parents will also have the opportunity to speak with an admission officer. A student led tour can be arranged at this time for families interested in visiting the campus. In order to allow us to acquaint ourselves with the applicant, and their family, please submit the Student Questionnaire (Part 2) and Parent Statement (Part 3) at least four days prior to your interview date.
Step 3: Testing Applicants for grades 9 and 10 must take the SSAT. Please refer to the SSAT website and note registration deadlines. We strongly urge you to use the November, December, or January test date in order to have scores received by our January 15 deadline. Be sure to list the PDS code (5902) when you register for the test so scores will be sent directly to us. We only accept test scores directly from SSAT. 11th and 12th grade applicants may submit the results of the SSAT, PSAT, SAT, or ACT.
Step 4: Submit Remaining Materials Please submit your transcript, teacher recommendations, and PDS Supplement by following the directions for the SSAT Standard Application On-line. All materials are due by January 15.
Optional: We are offering an optional Extracurricular Recommendation Form for Upper School applicants to be included in their files. It is to be completed by someone other than a classroom teacher in a non-academic interest. Additional directions can be found on the form. It will be due by January 15 directly to the Princeton Day School Admission Office.
