Step 1: Submit the General Information Form and Application Fee
The first part of the application is the General Information Form (pdf). This, along with your application fee of $55, opens your admission file with PDS.
Step 2: Visits
ENTERING PREKINDERGARTEN, KINDERGARTEN OR GRADE 1
Upon receipt of the Student Information Form, the Admission Office will contact your family regarding your child's individual screening (described below.)
- Individual developmental screening (30-40 minutes) with a certified member of the Admission staff. At this time, a tour of the Lower School may be scheduled for families who have not had an opportunity to tour during one of our Open Houses. There will also be an opportunity to meet with an Admission Officer to answer any questions you might have.
ENTERING GRADES 2-3 - Admission testing: Saturday, January 26, 2013, 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. An information session for parents will be held from 9:00 - 9:30 a.m.
ENTERING GRADES 4-5 - Applicants entering grades 4 and 5 must take the Elementary Level SSAT. Please refer to the SSAT Website to register.
Step 3: Current Teacher Recommendation
Please ask your child’s current teacher to complete the appropriate Confidential Common Recommendation Form (PK-1st grade or 2nd-5th grade), after December 1. As this form is confidential, please ask the evaluator to mail his or her recommendation directly to the Admission Office (please supply postage) by the January 15 deadline.
Step 4: Request for Release of School Records (Grades 2-5)
Please give this form to the appropriate administrator at your child’s current school.
Step 5: APPLICANTS TO GRADE 5 ONLY
Please download and print the Student Questionnaire for your child to complete. (There is an option to upload it to the online General Information Form.)
